You can download files using BitTorrent protocol by setting FDM to be associated with .torrent files (just check the corresponding box in the BitTorrent options dialog). Each time you open a .torrent file (e.g. by double clicking it), FDM will open up and prompt you to create a torrent download.

Alternatively, you can do the following:

1.Select Add torrent download from web in the Torrents menu or, in case you have already downloaded the intended .torrent file, select Add torrent download from file in the same menu and locate the downloaded file. The Add BitTorrent Download dialog box will open.

2.If the torrent tracker requires authentication, check the User name and password are required checkbox and specify them in the appropriate text boxes.

3.Select the group you want the download to belong to.

4.Select the base destination folder for the downloaded files.

5.Choose if you want FDM to generate the name of the .torrent file automatically, based on the source URL, or specify its name manually.

6.Pick out one of the download start options
· Automatically - Free Download Manager will start downloading the file as soon as possible according to network settings.
· Manually - you will start the download yourself.
· Schedule - downloading the file will start according to a specific schedule.

7.If necessary, click the Advanced button to change the default properties for all new downloads.
